A Productive Week

Last Friday we were pleased to be able to be a part of Pep Fest at Apollo. Taylor Bauer, our Mascot, and last year's Safety Captain walked in the Pep Fest parade with our flag.

This week we worked on assembling a West Coast Drive Chassis.  This is a new style of drive system for the team.  It has been used successfully by other teams and we are excited to give it a try this year if it fits with the game challenge (yet to be revealed) For you "build types" this is what a West Coast Chassis looks like:

Corey had 3D printed some parts for the new gearboxes and is showing them to the team and how they can be used. Ethan continues to work on the gearboxes with the help of Corey.

Natalie with the guidance of Dave is milling out the holes for the chassis and also learning how to use the mill.

In other news, 2 of our mentors, David, and Lori Dale, are starting a FIRST Lego League (FLL) team at St. Cloud Christian School.  They had the informational meeting on Monday.  it was nice to see the excited students and their parents.  FLL is another FIRST program, and it is for students in 4th-8th grade.  It uses Lego Mindstorm Software and an EV3 robot.  Like the Gearheads FRC program, in FLL, a new challenge is issued every year and the teams build robots to meet the challenge, only with Lego League they are smaller and the game is played on a table.
