Alexandria Industries Demo, and other events

Last Friday (Sept. 29th) some team leaders visited Alexandria Industries to demo what our 2017 robot can do.  We showed them the functions of the robot, and talked about the creation process of how the robot design came about.  They supply us with the metal that we use for most of our robot frame, and made some pieces specifically for our robot last year.  We may have good news in the future about our relationship with Alexandria Industries, but its still in the planning phases, so stay tuned!

In other news, a few of us attended the Tour of Manufacturing on Sept. 30th.  We toured AAM (formerly Grede), DCI, and Park Industries.  We hope to tour Talon Innovation, and Woodcraft Industries on Saturday Oct. 7th.

We had our first preseason build session on Monday Oct. 2nd.  The new team members worked on assembling a test frame, and the veterans worked on reassembling “Sir Antsabot” our robot from 2016.  We will use these to train, and test out new robotic functions.

Interested students and their parents are invited to attend any of our regular meetings.  We will be meeting on Mondays, at 5:30 at Apollo.  They can enter through door 910, on the southeast side of Apollo. Or door 30, on the south, if its open.

We will also be attending a competition on Oct. 14th in Roseville.  It is called the Minnesota Robotics Invitational.  It is hosted by the FireBears, they are the team that we were in an alliance with for our 2 recent off season wins, in July in Duluth, and last month in Woodbury.  Here is a link to the informational  webpage
