The Gearheads are still taking a break, but that does not mean that nothing is happening in FIRST in the rest of Minnesota. The Minnesota State Fair begins this week, and Thursday is “STEM Day at the Fair”. Several FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams will be at the Fair to demonstrate their robots and let people know what FIRST is about. Among them will be our friends the Firebears, team 2846, from Roseville, who will be there on Friday starting at 9 am. They will also be on WCCO at 4:30 on Thursday. The Firebears were our alliance partners in 2018 when we were finalists at our regional competition and qualified to attend Championships in Detroit.

Team ICE our other alliance partner from 2018 will be at the fair on Saturday, August 24th. C.I.S.one of our fellow Central Minnesota Robotics Hub teams will be there on Saturday, August 31st. In total, 36 FRC teams and 7 FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) teams will be showing their robots the Fair.

In addition to the FIRST teams that will be there doing demonstrations, there will be “other Technology and Engineering projects on display. Woods, metals, drafting, 3D printing, Supermileage cars and much more” according to Jay Nix who is the organizer for the robotics at the fair.
