The May Highlights

It has been a little over a month since the last blog, and a few things have happened so I decided to post a blog for the month of May. Here are some of the things that have happened this month.

The Minnesota Robotics Coaches Association awards students in grades 10-12 the Academic All-Star Award if they have a GPA of 3.7 or higher. We are proud to announce that 2 of our team members have earned this award. Congratulations Natalie and Ricky!

In other news FIRST has announced the theme for the 2020-2021 season. It will be called Game Changers. They have also let us know that for FRC teams the 2020 game Infinite Recharge will be carried over from this year, with a few changes to be made. They have not let us know what those changes will be. That will be a part of the game reveal in January of 2021. Of course, all of that is tentative, depending on what happens in the next few months with Covid-19.

The teaser doesn’t seem to show that, but they are usually best understood in hindsight, if then. If you would like to see the teaser here it is:

As you probably already know the Waite Park and St. Joe parades have been canceled, and the Granite City Days parade has been postponed indefinitely. The Benton County Fair has also been canceled. Since that is the case, our team is not currently meeting, but a few of our students are working with our Build Coach, Corey Applegate, to learn how to CAD robots. If this is successful we may open up the opportunity to other students. They are regularly posting on our YouTube channel if you would like to see their work here is a link:

You can also see other tutorials on our channel, so if you are on a robotics team check us out, we may have something that you find interesting.

Finally, with schools now done for the year, we hope that everyone has a healthy and relaxing summer and that we will be able to see you in the fall!
